Practical information

Guests normally meet our team in Merzouga, near the Shell service station. It is a simple landmark to find and easy to give to a driver or a navigation app.

Your car goes into secure parking in Merzouga and stays there while you are at camp. You continue into the dunes with our team.

Arrival timing depends on the season and on your travel plans, so we agree it with you when your stay is confirmed rather than publishing a fixed time that would be wrong for much of the year.

Your driver brings you to the same meeting point in Merzouga and our team takes over from there.

Usually somewhere around 15 to 40 minutes, depending on when you arrive and conditions on the day. It is timed around sunset rather than being a long trek.

Tell us in advance and we will discuss alternative arrangements for reaching camp. It is a common request and not a problem, but we need to know beforehand.

Yes, sandboarding is offered on the dunes. No experience is needed and there is nothing to bring.

Yes. Every tent has its own ensuite bathroom with a hot shower and a flush toilet. There is no shared bathroom block.

Ten in total. Four are Family Luxury Tents sleeping up to six; the rest are Deluxe Tents.

A proper bed made up with linen, rugs and furniture, a large glazed window facing the dunes, and the private ensuite bathroom.

Desert nights can be genuinely cold, particularly between late autumn and early spring. Tents have gas heaters for the cold months and we provide extra blankets.

Yes. Four family tents sleep up to six, so families can stay together, and children generally take to the dunes, the sandboarding and the fire immediately.

This depends on the child and on conditions on the day. Tell us the ages of everyone travelling when you enquire and we will be straightforward about what we would suggest.

Dinner and breakfast are included and are cooked and served at camp.

Please tell us about dietary needs when you enquire. We will do what we reasonably can with what is available out here, and we would rather agree it in advance than promise something we cannot deliver on the night.

One night covers the classic desert evening. A second night adds a 4x4 day beyond the dunes with nomad tea, Khamlia and Gnawa culture, fossil areas and lunch with a local Amazigh family, plus a quieter second evening. Longer stays can be arranged by request.

Most guests bring a small overnight bag with what they need for the night and leave the rest with their car in secure parking.

Layers. Afternoons on the dunes can be hot and nights turn cold, especially in the winter months. Something to cover your head in the sun is worth having, and shoes you do not mind filling with sand.
